Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My fianc is currently incarcerated in Virginia and will be released in February. Part if the fines he owes is restitution to someone who in 2008 committed suicide. Due to that, will he still owe the restitution? As the person is no longer here and that is due to him taking his own life? And if the person has no estate, will he owe it? I understand he may owe it to the estate, but what if there is no estate?

If no estate (or the estate has been closed), then to the surviving heirs of the decedent (I would hope).
