Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

My friend bryant moore was charge with murder and he is currently serving a life term. The attorney he had did not complete the habeas corpus for him after he was sentence. He would like to know if this can be done since his case is 10 years old. It was a robbery that him and another guy did in York county but he did not shot the person that died. The judge stated since bryant was the oldest he would receive the most time. Is there something that can be done. If not the habeas corpus then can he appeal his case again.

No, the defendant may not "appeal his case again", but there is no time limit

on the Great Writ, aka Habeus Corpus, as far as I am aware, but if there's already been one appeal which the appellate court has denied, it's unlikely that there would be facts sufficient to support such a writ in behalf of such a defendant as described (already 10+ years into his sentence).
