Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

My friend(VA resident) was charged with a misdemeanor drug charge for possesion of marijuana. He was pulled over for a traffic violation and he had to get out to get his license from the trunk. When he did the officer saw a bag of marijuana between the driver seat and the door. It was actually mine(New Jersey resident) and it had fallen from my coat when i had gotten out of his car previously that day. He apparently tried to state it wasnt his but the officer still charged him. He wants me to testify/admit it was mine. Can I be charged if I do? I am in the process of getting a new job and dont want to mess it up.

Yes, of course, you could be charged, if you made such an admission.

But, hopefully, you're the right kind of friend who will do the Right

Thing.
