Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Fugitive warrant

My husband has been in jail for 8 months. He goes to sentencing this Friday and is expected to get time served. He plead guilty to 3 charges as part of a plea bargain. He was home (VA) on boand from Florida when he was arrested due to a search warrant that was looking for drugs in our home because of my 16YO son. Now that his time is almost near an end here in VA is there anything that can be done about the fugitive warrant here or does he have to wait to be extradited to Florida and hopefully post bond again there?

Re: Fugitive warrant

Once your husband has served his time for the Virginia offense, he may continue to be detained in custody due to the fugitive warrant from Florida, and those authorities should have around 72 hours or so to make arrangements to come and pick him up for extradition to Florida. However, if Florida authorities fail to come and and get him within the required time frames, the fugitive warrant will most likely be dismissed.
