Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Need to Garnish Wages in VA - How?

I did bulldozer land clearing for a woman.

She paid part of the bill - but still owes me $1675.00. I took her to court because she is avoiding paying me...the judge ruled in my favor and ordered her to pay and allowed me 6% interest on this bill until it's paid. I was told to garnish her wages to get my money.

I cannot get this woman's social security number to go back to court to garnish her wages. No one will cooperate with me either - as she does some type of work as a court employee.

How do I now go about getting my money she owes me plus the 6% interest? My judgement was allowed by the court in October 2006. I want her to pay me, it's been almost a year. I did the work, she needs to pay for the job done.

Do I still send her bills as well?

Please help me do this right so I can collect my money she owes.

Thank you.

Re: Need to Garnish Wages in VA - How?

You could summon her to appear before the court for what's called debtor interrogatories where she would be required to answer under oath questions related to her personal assets and to provide her SS# if such is needed for the summons in garnishment. The clerk of the court(civil division)should have the required forms that would be used for this exercise.
