Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I gave at the university some receipt for tuition thinking it was paid in full but once I got home I realised that it was not. So I went ahead and paid the remaining tuition balance. I was contacted by the school police and was questioned about those receipts and were told the ones I gave to school were fraudulent, which I did not know. The detective told me it can be a felony, he is investigating who made the receipt, and I do not know who did. I realised the mistake about the tuition and it got paid. Is there going to be any charges?

Not enough information to predict whether criminal charges may
result from this scenario but you would likely be well advised to
refrain from answering any further questions from law enforcement
(including this detective) until you've had an opportunity to consult
a competent criminal defense counsel who can further advise you
regarding this matter.
