Is it legal for a detective to make the initial contact to a person when setting up a computer sting? If so would that be grounds for a case to be thrown out?

Re: general
Why, of course, such a move by the detective would be legal, and, no, that alone would most certainly not be "grounds for a case to be thrown out".
After all, after the cyber-dick has entered the perverts' chatroom, what's he suppose to do, hang demurely by, waiting for one of these lowlifes to accost him?
