Grand Larceny Charge In Virginia

I am accused of stealing a laptop from my former employer, which I didn't, and in the police report they list the item stolen as a ThinkPad 2000, of which there is no such model nor ever has been. Can I request that the charges be dismissed for erroneous information in the charging documents?

You can ask but it probably won't do any good. Get an attorney to help.

Re: Grand Larceny Charge In Virginia

Grand larceny is a felony and a serious charge, needless to say. The main consideration at this point is that you're apparently being accused of allegedly taking something from your former employer which qualifies as grand larceny, irrespective of whatever model the item may actually be.

Consequently, you'd be better advised to get yourself a competent criminal defense counsel to represent you on this serious criminal charge rather than asking for dismissal of the case on the basis which you've prosposed because that simply is not very likely to happen.
