Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My Granddaughter, 15 years old, while attending a party in the state of New Jersey, was sexually assulted by an adult. Both the adult and minor are residence of the state of Virginia. Can charges be filled in Virginia ? or would we have to return to New Jersey to file charges?

New Jersey is where the alleged crime occurred and therefore charges should be filed there. (If they're indicted there, New Jersey would then likely request extradition from the Commonwealth.)
