Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Harrassing Communication
I have been receiving harassing phone calls/ emails from an estranged member of my family for over two years. At first, I asked for the negative communication to stop, and when that didnt happen, I asked for all communications between us to stop. This person continues to call my work phone and harass me. I had to change my home number, but can not change my work number. What recourse do I have if he lives out of state? (VA)

Re: Harrassing Communication
The first step is to report it to the phone company who will decide whether a formal investigation should be initiated which can then be followed up on by the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
