Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My husband was sentenced to 7 years in prison and has to serve about 5 of it. I was wondering if there was anyway we could get a sentence reduction? He talked to a legal advisor in there and they said he has good grounds for one. The judge who sentenced him has retired.

So, have your husband write a letter to the Circuit Court
involved in the matter outlining all the good and persuasive reasons
as to why your husband should now receive a reduction in the sentence which was originally handed down to him by the jurist of that court who has now gone into retirement.
Additional comment to above answer: This letter could be addressed
to whomever is now designated as the chief judge of the court.
