i answered several e-mails for assistance in helping people donate their funds. i singled one and asked if he could help me pay the nortization fees in which he agreed to do stating he had friends in nigeria that could help me. unknown to me he used my name and collected funds from people stating he as (me) was selling puppies over the internet in a newspaper ad..

i had no idea he was doing this now these people are calling the police and i am under investagation for receiving this money by western union to which i sent to him in nigeria. where he said he was paying these fees and other fees incumbered. i have coroperated completely with the police by giving the all e-mails and receipts from western union. i have never been involved with the law and would like to know what i should do now and if convected of this what will happen to me?even though i am innocent of all charges here

Re: identy thieft

Another Nigerian scam, which are now insinuated in many versions and manifestations throughout the Internet.

Every one of these emails on the Internet soliciting "assistance in helping people donate their funds"(or some version thereof) is a scam. Every last one, and anyone who thinks otherwise and decides to participate in these fraudulent schemes will end up finding that their funds have been "donated" in a way which they did not anticipate nor intend. Even worse, some of these hapless victims

such as yourself may find themselves the subject of police investigations and even criminally charged, due to the criminal depredations of these scammers with which the victims naively associated themselves.

If you're criminally charged with some kind of fraud offense in the case you've described, you'll need to hire a defense counsel to defend you who preferably will have some knowledge of these Nigerian scams which now span the globe by way of the Internet and have multitudes of victims such as apparently yourself.
