Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Indecent Exposure Convition/Consequences
I was caught streaking with 2 girl-friends of mine a few months out of college. I am a 22 year old male. I have no prior criminal record. I have not gone to court and was wondering if there was any way to get the charge dropped or reduced. The reason I ask is because I wish at some point to become a Police officer and a misdomeanor conviction for indecent exposure is grounds for automatic disqualification in most departments. Is there anything I can plead differently, ask the court, or anything to get this charge lessened to something that would not limit my career choice? Additionally, what sort of judgement should I expect if found guilty? I was planning on pleading No Contest, but is that my best option given that it is essentially the equivalent of pleading guilty?
