Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I'm currently being investigated for a crime that didn't happen. I have no problem with being investigated. However, I signed an No Contact Order about the "victim" and she violated that contract and messaged me. The detective asked for screen shots of the conversation. While she did break the contract, there are messages in the screen shots that are possibly self incriminating (I could be charged with an unrelated event). Can I blur out the messages and send them only the relevent messages of her breaking the contract?

Sure, you could provide your redacted version of these screen shots but if the detective is not satisfied with these you will
likely have to provide the unedited versions unless law enforcement can obtain them from an alternative
source (in my opinion).
