investigating officer ordered autopsy

Investigator ordered an autopsy. Reason: suspicious. Final medical examiner authority: suspicious. Body taken 70 miles to M.E. Took 5 months for results. All done was a couple vials of blood, no urine. He had been drinking and had darvocet on him and xanax in the blood.Blood alchold level was 0.16%. He drank, but was not a user or drug addict. The person he was living with was, and I know she took Xanax. She knew medicines. Could have been hers. His body and the darvocent were sent to the M.E. Listed on the report as circumstances surrounding his death were-he and girllfriend allegedly had argument. At 4:30 am she saw him lighting the wood stove. She awoke later, approximately 9:00 and saw him lying on the floor with his mouth open. At approximately 12:56 she called 911. DOA. Person buried. If known M.E. was to do so little, family would have had more done locally. We still are unsure of the cause of his death even though M.E. report stated cause of death acute propoxyphene, alprazolam and ethanol poisoning. He was 41. The investigator said she can't do any more unless something else is found out. What is the family's recourse? My instinct tells me there was more to his death than we know. Thank you, his mother.
