Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

investigator

I was the sole beneficiary of an estate, but an investigator for the sheriff's department gave the deceased brother assess to his property and everything that was removable was taken. Should the investigator have given the keys to his home to the clerk of court. Was the investigator wrong in what he did? Is there anything I can do?

Re: investigator

Your question is muddled and, therefore, confusing. I guess you're suggesting that your local sheriff's department may be responsible for the loss of items from a probate estate due to the fact that their investigator provided access to someone who should not have had it.

It's possible that the sheriff's department and others(including the investigator) might be liable, but many more facts would be needed in order to determine this and you therefore would be well advised to consult with a local attorney in your area who would be competent to advise you on this matter.
