Judge Instructions to a Defendant

In the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the case of a murder trial, is the sitting Judge required by law to give the Defendant instructions when the Defendant elects to testify once the prosecution rests?

There is nothing in Title 19.2 of the Virginia Code of Criminal Procedure which mandates such an instruction under the circumstances described, as far as I am aware.
