Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Hi my name is Julio, I have a question a a charge that I pleaded guilty to in 2008. The charge ended up being a misdemeaner to possession of marijuana. T the time I recently turned 19 and I was young and dumb not knowing how this charge could affect me in the long run. The charge was given to me in va and I was wondering if there's anything that I can do to help my record out. Many employers see this charge and judge me before they get a chance to determine whether or not I'm well suited for the position. Am I able to get an appeal? Or get this expunged? I know now looking back, I could've fought this charge and possibly won but just being young and ignorant, I didn't try anything.

Unforunately, the answer under current Virginia law must be no on both counts.

(This situation as described illustrates the importance of "the young and dumb"

having counsel to represent them in any matter in which they've been

criminally charged. And, if they cannot afford to hire such on their own,

then they should request that the court involved appoint one for them.)
