Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Juvenille Posession of Marijuana

My 17 year old son was stopped in his car (he was not driving) with 2 pounds of Marijuana and a scale. I want him to learn his lesson but to get into treatment in lieu of a sentence. What is the best course of action?

Very worried but must teach him a lesson once and for all.

You would be well advised to retain him a competent criminal defense practitioner who knows the criminal law and procedure as it applies to adults as well as juveniles in the particular jurisdiction handling the matter.

Having been caught with two lbs. of marijuana as well as a scale, it's probable that law enforcement authorities have charged your son with not only possession but possession with intent to distribute which, obviously, is a more serious matter.

Forget the part about "teaching him a lesson." The court system will do far worse than that if he is convicted. Hire the best criminal defense attorney you can, and pray.
