Does a 53 yr old need a lawyer for 1st offense,class1 misdeomeanor.

A class 1 misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. It is a good idea to have an attorney advise you, although a lack of criminal history will be an advantage for you.

No, not if the 53 year old can arrange on his or her own for the disposition known as an SIS(Suspended Imposition of Sentence)for the misdemeanor offense with which the defendant has been charged.
