Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Lease/Forging Issue
I previously signed a lease in my
name to an apartment but my ex-
boyfriend lives in the apartment and
always has. He pays the rent and the
utilities. My only relation to the
apartment is that the lease is under
my name. The lease ends soon and I
already submitted the 60-day notice.
My ex doesn't want to move-out and
wants me to retract the 60-day
notice that I submitted. I will not do
such a thing because I want my
name off this lease. If he were to
forge my signature and submit a
letter to the leasing office requesting
a cancelation of the 60-day notice
and his (''my'') intention to stay at
the apartment month by month, will
I be able to do anything legally-
speaking? Thank you in advance for
your response.

Re: Lease/Forging Issue
Yes, just bring the evidence of your forged signature to the landlord's attention along with a
written reaffirmation of your intent not to renew this lease.
