Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Legal definition of a Felon by State
What is the definition of a Felon in VA in particular or any other state in general for the purpose of determining the rights for gun ownership, voting, etc? Does a military Court Martial conviction automatically relate to a state or federal conviction of the same level? Who makes those determinations and how are the recorded and tracked?

Re: Legal definition of a Felon by State
Anyone who receives one or more of the penalties described in the Virginia Code S18.2-10 can be reasonably assured that they meet the definition of a felon.
If the military court martial conviction was for a felony crime, the same standard would apply for the purposes of gun ownership. voting, etc. as for any other state court conviction involving
a felony.
