Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
legal presence needed?
my 15 year old son has been asked to come in to meet with a Detective from the Crimes Against Juveniles unit of the police regarding allegations (possibly of sexual nature but unfounded). When I talked to the Det., she was very pleasant, as if this was preliminary, but I became concerned when she said she could not tell me what the allegations are. Should we have an attorney present or will that just make him seem guilty?

Re: legal presence needed?
I would suggest that you decline in your son's behalf the detective's invitation for him to come down to police headquarters to discuss allegations which apparently remain unspecified to date.
