Life after being convicted of a felony
What are my rights (or loss of rights) as convicted felon in the state of VA? Are there any support groups for felons?

Re: Life after being convicted of a felony
Convicted felons in the Commonwealth lose their right to exercise the franchise(voting rights)and
no longer may legally purchase or possess firearms. Such felons are now also required to
provide the Commonwealth with a sample of their DNA and if the felony of which they were convicted involved a sex offense against a minor,
their names must also appear on the list of registered sex offenders maintained by the Commonwealth.
These are some of the rights impacted or impositions incurred by persons convicted of a felony in the Commonwealth. There may be others.
As far as a support group for convicted felons,
I have never heard of such, but the idea may have merit. You should check with the local social services agency in your area or, perhaps, with
one of the so-called 12 step self-help programs
to see if they might know of one in your area, and, if not, perhaps,(with your help) such a program could be started.
