How long can a person be held without an indictment, supposedly the charge is falsification of statement or document

Assuming that such person is being held only on the basis of an
arrest warrant for probable cause, he should be asking for bail, and, if denied,
should likely be appealing the denial to the next higher court. (A defendant being held in pretrial detention is normally considered entitled to bail unless the judge considering such request finds credible circumstances that contravene the
conditions outlined in the bail statutes which govern pretrial release.)
