Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
How long do I have to wait after pleading guilty to petit larceny before I can request to have the record sealed in the state of Virginia? As I understand it, this is impossible to be expunged. This is the first and only legal charge I've ever had. I'm a hopeful future teacher--has this ruined all of my chances?

Yes, your understanding is correct with respect to the expungement of
your criminal record, i.e., it's simply not going to happen nor is there any
provision in the Commonwealth's law for sealing such a record
under the circumstances described (as far as I am aware).
See Va. Code Sec. 19.2-392.2 et seq.
