mandatory minimum sentencing
If a person receives a mandatory minimum sentence does that mean all of the sentence must be served or can a portion of the sentence be suspended

Yes, any so-called "good time" accrued while the person is serving his or her sentence, may be used to shorten even a mandatory minimum sentence.
