Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

marijuana possession

my son had an accident and received a dui. When he was sitting in the sherriffs car he was scared and hid his paraphenalia under his seat. The next day my daughter called the officer and told him what happened. Five days later officers came to arrest my son for possession ( 1st offense) and he had a 3000 dollar bond. There were no drugs in the paraphenalia. Should we hire a lawyer

dui

A person may be convicted for drug poseession and/or parephenalia in Virginia. Depending on the substance,

quantity, packaging, etc. determines the degree of seriousness for the offense. Some drug offenses are felonies. Others are misdemeanors. There are a variety of defenses. Since your son may receive jail time, I would certainly hire an

attorney. I have handled numerous cases of this type. Feel free to telephone.

I also have handled many cases regarding driving under the influence.

Re: marijuana possession

Yes, indeed. Marijuana possession can be a jailable offense in the Commonwealth. An experienced defense counsel should be able to minimize the

potentially adverse consequences for your son of a conviction for this offense.
