Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I have been married to a man but have lived apart for 17 years. I filed for divorce but my attorney never filed it through the courts, which means I am still married. That being said - my husband married again(without proof of divorce to me) and 3 yrs later he got a divorce... but continues to live with the woman(since 2004). It is obvious he knows what he has done and is trying to cover it hoping nl one finds out. Can I press charges? Can I do that from my state or does it have to be done in the stae he married and divorced in? He had divorce papers served on me last week from a state that neither one of us live in. What are my options?

If you paid a lawyer to represent you in a divorce and it was never filed, you should report the lawyer to the state bar association.
Your last statement makes no sense at all since no one can initiate a valid divorce action from a state in which the party does not reside and who has not met the residential requirements for divorce in that particular state.
