can consenting adults send text messages or text images that are deemed inappropriate,lewd or vulgar

I see no difference, legally speaking, between lewd telephone talk and text messaging, the former
which has been going on for years with no person engaging in such puerile activity yet to serve any jail time, as far as I am aware.
