Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I have a neighbor that is a known narcotics dealer. his house was recently broken into, but nothing of "value" was taken. big screen tv, tools, chain saws, nothing, probably because that is not what they were looking for. because i work from home, i saw, what i believe, is the suspect. i thought this was, what has become, a normal "pickup" of merchandise. through neighborhood conversation, it came to my attention that this drug dealer thinks i had something to do with the break-in simply because i am home all day. my question is: should i report this to the police and what legal implications are there? i am a live and let live type of person but i don't want this rumor to continue.
thanks for your time.

Yes, I would recommend reporting what you've observed (and heard) to local
law enforcement, requesting that you remain a low profile individual
in any investigation that they might undertake in the matter, and then let them handle it.
