Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I have a non-violent misdemeanor sex crime for which I must register my personal information. I was approached by a sheriff who demanded I report my ebay, paypal, and online bank accounts. I feel like this is an unlawful intrusion into my online business since I've already reported that I am self-employed. Giving away banking information to the general public will set me up for identity theft. I can't find any information on the specifics of what types of online activities must be reported, aside from generalizations such as social networking and email accounts. Am I required to publicly register ebay, paypal, or online bank accounts?

So, why not ask this "sheriff" (most likely a deputy) as to the authority
for this demand and inform him or her that if such cannot be produced,
then you cannot comply until it is?
