The possible penalties for obtaining money under false pretenses(a form of larceny)are as follows: If the amount equals or exceeds $200, one to twenty years in a state penal facility, or in the discretion of the jury or judge(after a bench trial)up to twelve months in the local jail and a fine of up to $2500, either or both.
