You likely received a "reckless driving" summons - not a speeding ticket. This means that your first court date will be an advisement date, where the judge will explain that you are facing a Class 1 Misdemeanor offense, which carries a maximum penalty of 1 year in jail, a $2,500 fine, suspension of your license, and points on your license.

It is important for you to be aware that in many cities/counties in Virginia, a speed above 90 will land you in jail for each day that you exceeded 90 miles per hour. This means that you are facing a likelihood of 6 days in jail if convicted.

But, the standard of proof is beyond a reasonable doubt.

The judge will also tell you that he recommends that you come back to your trial date with a lawyer.
