ongoing investigation information
A police officer has taken a statement from a witness involved in a petty theft investigation. The police officer spoke with the victem about that statement. The victim then uses this information to notify the witnesses job (via email) telling everyone hat his corp office and accuse him of stealing her money while the investigation is still pending. Can she do this or is it against the law?

No, what the victim did was not against the law
(in a criminal sense), but she may have given
the witness a basis to sue her in civil court for defamation.
