Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Options after a case has been nolle prossed

I was assaulted and raped by an acquantance in August , I went to the preliminary hearing and 6 out of the 9 charges against were dropped. The Commonwealt had the case nolle prossed because I was afraid to testify because I was afraid he would walk. He had agreed to pay medical costs and now is not doing so. The bills have been turned over for collection and I am afraid there will be a judgment or garnishment next. What are my options?

Re: Options after a case has been nolle prossed

go back to the commonwealth attorney and

report this to him/her. you have a civil right to sue to recover damages (med bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, etc.) Therefore, you may want to talk to a civil/personal injury attorney.
