Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Passenger in an involuntary manslaghter accident

My daughter has been in an accident, as a passenger in the car. A cyclist hit the car and has died. The driver has been told he may face involuntary manslaughter charges. Are there any legal issues I should be aware of for my daughter? I'm assuming she will be a witness - but for who and should she be represented?

Many thanks,

Re: Passenger in an involuntary manslaghter accident

You've said it, your daughter will be a witness who will be expected to tell truthfully what she knows about the accident, whether to one side or the other. If anything develops beyond that and she becomes subject to coercive or other unwholesome influences in any stage of the case against the driver, be it criminal or civil, she may wish to retain the services of counsel to advise and protect her during the term that these matters may be prosecuted and/or litigated.
