Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Petit Larceny Expungement
I recieved a deferred disposition sentence for a petit larcony charge in Virginia (I did not plead guilty). After 6 months the charges were dismissed. If asked on a job application whether or not I have ever pleaded ''no contest'' to a crime of moral terpitude, can I say ''No''? Or was my original plea most likely ''no contest'' since they gave me a deferred disposition?

Re: Petit Larceny Expungement
If you received the disposition known as "Suspended Imposition of Sentence" (SIS), you had to have entered a plea of guilty (not no contest), but would not have been convicted of this crime (since you were never sentenced), and, therefore, you could answer truthfully that you had not been convicted.
