Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Plea bargaining

My son is charged in a conspiracy to distrube methenpheniamnes.None was found on him. He has

3 witness that pleaded quilty to charges testifing

against him. They want him to plead guilty, using

pressure by stating they will leave his family alone.

They say they will give him 20 yrs instead of life. I

feel they want him to plead because they are not sure

of a jury guilty plea. They instructed his lawyer to

inform they family to stop talking him out of a quilty

plea or he will get life and this is the only plea they

will agree to is 20 yrs. How is this fair when the other

was caught with 500 grams of meth and pleaded guilty. They

are getting only 15 yrs

Re: Plea bargaining

If it truly is as you say regarding "they", meaning,I assume, the prosecutors, that "they"

are not confident of a jury verdict in favor of the Commonwealth, then, perhaps, your son and his

attorneys should be thinking seriously about

proceeding to trial.
