Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Police/Jury Fraternization
Is it illegal for a police officer to converse with jury members (while on lunch break) if they do not discuss the trial and the police officer is not involved in the case being tried? The officer's only function in the case is to provide traffic security escort service to to another agency transporting the defendant, the officer in question has no physical contact whatsoever with the defendant.
