possesion of controled substance

can i be convicted of possesion of a controled substance if it was found in the room my girlfriend and i was staying in and turned into police they sent it to a lab results came back positive but i was kicked out the day before my mother in law found it in the room i have a warrant for the charge because she said it was mine is her word.even if my prints where on it that dosent make it min....also isnt possesion 9 tenths of the law..how did they charge me with possesion???????? thank you

You say you were kicked out of the room where you were staying one day before the drug was found there and attributed to your possession.

I'm afraid that still leaves plenty of opportunity for you to have illegally possessed and controlled this found contraband and therefore chargeable to you.

However, whether the prosecutor and law enforcement will have evidence sufficient to convict you of this charge beyond reasonable doubt is quite another matter, but there is certainly probable cause based upon the facts which you've recounted here sufficent to bring the charge against you.
