Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

prescription Fraud

A friend of mine is being charged w/ several counts of obtaining prescriptions by fraud, narcotics, (possibly 10-15) over a several month period. 10 years ago she was charged w/ one count which was dropped to a mistaminer. No trouble since then.

What can you possibly tell me what her outcome may be this time? She has since seeked drug abuse treatment as well.

Thanks

Re: prescription Fraud

Any potential jail sentence will be determined by the sentencing guidelines. In Virgina sentencing guidelines are determined by the person's criminal record and factors related to the charge. Your friends case will be affected by her previous record, how many charges she has, but most importantly the strength of the Commmonwealth's case.

Re: prescription Fraud

Hopefully, your friend has a competent criminal defense counsel to represent her by now who should be in a position to provide at least a tentative answer to your question.
