Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Probation Question
Hello. Recently, I was found by the police with a few grams of cannabis on my person in another city than where I live. This is my first ever criminal conviction, and I know that I have the option for 6 months of probation OR 30 days max jail time and a fine. What I was wondering is, if I went for the probation route, would that give the police authority to search my dad's house (which is where I currently live) whenever they wanted to. I have been told yes and no by different people, so I am hoping to get a definitive answer. Thank you for your time, in advance! :-)
