Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
If you have a probation violation and you only have 20 years to be considered for revocation, can the judge give you 29 years with 17 suspended or is that an illegal sentence?

Assuming the original offense for which the defendant was sentenced carried a possible penalty of 29, years, it should not be an illegal sentence (in my opinion).
