Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My question is , Is it a crime to pretend to be some one else.
my husband and I are in the process of getting a divorce and he stop making the mortgage payments, he had someone to contact the mortgage company and make arrangments saying that she was me, left a work number to be contacted by the mortgage company. Is this a criminal act.

It could be(a crime), depending on the circumstances(including the person you're impersonating or attempting to impersonate) as well as your intent and purpose in the impersonation.
For example, it's virtually always a crime to impersonate, or attempt to impersonate a law enforcement officer.
