Re: Can you still receive a bond after accepting a guilty plea?
A defendant who has entered a plea of guilty and who has not yet been sentenced may be eligible to remain free on bond pending sentencing, provided that the judge deems it appropriate.
Obviously, in your friend's case, either his situation did not allow for a bond or the judge decided it would not be appropriate. It may be that when he entered his plea of guilty he was then immediately sentenced and if he was given a jail term, bond would not be applicable.
