Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I recieved a possession of marijuana charge while I was 17. I am now 18 and attending college. I have court for the charge 2 months into college. The reason i recieved the charge...Me and a friend were riding in his car. His car, he was driving. We get pulled over for brake light out. Officer decides to search vehicle because he claims he smells marijuana in the vehicle. We get out, and get the pat down search. Both me and my friend have nothing in our pokcets. The offcier searches the vehicle and finds a bag of marijuana. We both deny ownership of the marijuana so the offcier charges us both with possession. My question is will i still be able to attend college? I have worked hard to get here and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. What do you think the outcome of the hearing will be? what should i tell my public defender or lawyer?

Yes, you will be able to attend college.
I have no idea as to the outcome of the case.
As for what you should tell your public defender, the truth is usually a good place to start with such matters.
