Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

what are the requirements for house detention in virginia? In jail now for breaking probation with a misdemeanor offense.

My son was arrested a week ago for a misdemeanor charge while on probation. His original charge was drug related. He has been clean for a year, taking his urine tests, going to drug op programs. In December he took a urine test and it wasn't readable, diluted from drinking water, soda, whatever. He was called to retake the test and passed but has still been arrested for it.

We were thinking about house detention because now he has to finish his original sentence which is 17 months. Is this a possibility? What are the requirements in Virginia to be eligible?

The young man's attorney (whom hopefully has been retained by now to

represent him on this alleged violation of probation charge) should be the

one now most credibly positioned to address the issue as to whether your

son might qualify for a so-called electronic bracelet/home detention type of sentence should he be convicted of violating his probation.
