Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

retained attorney will not call

i have been under investigation in a suspected sexual abuse case. i retained an attorney 4 weeks ago. i submitted to a dna test. the investigator said if i take a polygraph and pass i will be excluded as a suspect. i asked about the dna result and he said it could take from 6 to 8 months to get a result but if i passed the polygraph i would be excluded. i have emailed, phoned , left messages on my attorneys home phone but he has not called in 3 weeks. i paid him a retainer. can someone suggest why he would not call. his secretary says she will get him to call but he doesn''''''''t.

Re: retained attorney will not call

I would call or fill out the webform for the Va. State Bar (vsb.org). Maybe he will return -their- calls. Meanwhile do not take a polygraph or meet with police until you have spoken with an attorney. In my opinion, polygraphs are very unreliable and if you were my client I would not let you take one.
