Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
can I get my rights to own a firearm back ever ?
If I was convicted of a felony in Virginia and/or in Maryland more than 20 years ago, is it possible to restore the right to possess or own a firearm ? Both felonies were non-violent and non-drug related.

Yes, in Virginia one is eligible to apply for what's called a restoration of (civil) rights three years after conviction for a nonviolent felony. The, once the person has had his or her civil rights restored, meaning the right to vote, sit on a jury, hold public office, and function as a notary public, such person is then eligible to apply to the court where he or she was convicted for restoration of gun ownership rights.
